The Lunar New Year celebration is certainly an important tradition. As we venture into the year of the rabbit, various brands commemorate the beginning of the year with the release of their exclusive sneakers. All brands listed below have created a unique design featuring references to the year of the rabbit through their well-known, unique silhouettes. Vans commemorate the year of the rabbit with the standard slip-on silhouette featuring a newly curated design. Partnering with the Japanese label Billy’s in Tokyo, Vans released their “Year of the Rabbit” sneaker capsule collection featuring three different colours. The “Year of the Rabbit Sneakers” will be available exclusively in person at the Billy Tokyo stores.

The capsule collection features three shoes available in red, green and black. Each shoe features a checkered design with a repeating yin-yang rabbit pattern adorning the classic “Vault by Vans” slip-on silhouette.

2 – Gucci’s “Year Of the rabbit” Sneakers

Gucci unveiled their “Year of the Rabbit” collection, which features the Screener GG sneaker and the graffiti platform sneaker. Notably, the screener sneaker features a red and beige design with the interlocking GG logo. Furthermore, the graffiti platform sneaker has a splash of colour with graffiti-printed rabbits, the Gucci logo, and floral patterns adorning the leather sneaker.

The exclusiveness of the “Year of the Rabbit” Air Jordan 1 Low OG is evident with the release featuring only 5,000 pairs of shoes. The shoes feature suede and leather fabric in various colours, like brown, beige, and grey, as featured on the “Year of the Rabbit” Air Jordan 1 Low OG. Notable details include the rabbit motif, the sneaker number inside the shoe, and the frayed laces resembling a rabbit.

4 – Nike Dunk Year Of The Rabbit

The exclusive Nike Dunk Year of the Rabbit sneakers were among the most popular releases. Inspired by the “Year of the Rabbit” AF-1, released in 2011, and featuring four different designs, the sneakers pay homage to cities within China. The “Shanghai Nike Dunk” features a red, white, and blue design with a white rabbit detail on the side of the leather shoe, while the “Jing Dunk” pays tribute to the city of Beijing with bright colours and gold details. The “Chuan Dunk” takes inspiration from the city of Chengdu and features harmonious dark brown and red colouring.

New Balance has been a highly in-demand and popular choice of footwear for the past few years. With its inherent popularity, New Balance unveiled its 2002 R line in celebration of the lunar new year and the year of the rabbit. Available in two colours, the 2002 R features a lighter grey-beige sneaker with a contrasting darker brown and grey variation, with both versions featuring a suede material on the upper half of the sneaker. Detailing includes the notable “N” as the New Balance logo and “2002 R” in small lettering on the upper side of the shoe.
